Using PowerPoint 2016?

Highlight+ Enables Text Highlighting in PowerPoint 2016, too!

1. If you are using PowerPoint 2016, you can use the Highlight Color buttons to highlight text there, as well.
   ** To remove text highlighting, click the “No Color” button.
